Unionville Theatre Company is very pleased to present CATS, February 25-27, 2011 at Markham Theatre. We are currently seeking production sponsors and program advertisers for this year’s production.

Unionville Theatre Company (UTC) is a non-profit community theatre group focused on, but not limited to, youth.  UTC was established as a community theatre group in 1979 and has been a community user of the Markham Theatre for Performing Arts since 1986. Our mission is to: “operate a repertory company focused on young people that will through study, performance, production and competition advance knowledge and appreciation of theatre and the role it has played and continues to play in our culture and tradition; such that each person involved with our company participates in a learning experience that enhances their lives.” 

This year’s production: CATS is a classic Broadway musical. Based on the universally popular poetry of T.S. Eliot, CATS tells the story, in song and dance, of the annual gathering of Jellicle cats at which time one special cat is selected to ascent to the Heaviside layer. A true musical theatre phenomenon, CATS opened at London’s New London Theatre on May 11, 1981 and ran for a record-setting 21 years. CATS’s London success was nearly matched on Broadway where it ran at the Wintergarden Theatre for just over 18 years. 

We offer numerous sponsorship packages and advertising options to allow local businesses like yourself to get involved with your community through theatre. Depending upon your level of involvement, as a sponsor you will be prominently promoted through our sales and marketing efforts, in our program which is distributed to over 2000 audience members over our 4-show run, and can receive complimentary tickets to our show.  

Our success is also attributed to the many volunteers who have been the lifeblood of the company. People of assorted ages, talents, and backgrounds have given of their time, energy and skills to advance and encourage the growth of the Unionville Theatre Company.
