David Bertram - Vocal Director

After surviving his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Toronto, David is still smiling! Since then, he's added more than 20 years of performing, conducting and directing experience. He has worked in countless shows with lots of lovely people and a few, who know who they are, that have not been so lovely.

David is a multiple scholarship winner in both the Faculties of Music and Education at University of Toronto. While touring he has sung bass solos in Prague (C.R.), Saltzburg (AU), London (UK), Paris (FR) and Florence (IT). Locally, he has recently performed solos with the Vocal Horizons Chamber Choir.

David vocal directed many shows including Bernardo Kids, Chagall, Into the Woods, Annie and Anne of Green Gables. David directed previous UTC productions of Peter Pan, The Music Man and Beauty and the Beast.  He also conducted a children's chorus for ten years, toured choirs nationally and internationally, and has taught in the public school system. David has performed in many musicals, operas and operettas, adjudicated festivals, and given vocal master classes. David is a member of N.A.T.S. and currently he teaches voice privately in his home studio and performs with Vocal Horizons Chamber Choir. When David needs a break from this frantic life, he and his lovely wife, Donna, retreat quietly into their country garden, nicknamed The Fortress of Solitude!
